FAQs

Where can we eat out nearby?2021-09-04T15:29:33+00:00

The nearest places to eat are in Aberfoyle (check TripAdvisor for listings). For fine dining, there are some great places a bit further afield. See our “About” page for more info.

Where can we buy groceries?2021-09-04T15:24:14+00:00

The nearest town, Aberfoyle, is 11 miles, about 20-25 minutes’ drive away, where there is a large Co-op. You can also order deliveries online from the major supermarkets (Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s). Guests usually like to bring plenty of food with them so that they don’t have to worry about running out. Lochside House has a full-height fridge and a worktop-height freezer. Lochside Apartment has a worktop-height fridge and the same size freezer.

Will there be anyone else staying in the same property?2021-09-04T15:22:28+00:00

The building you can see on the photos is divided into four. Lochside House is the section on the right-hand side of the garden wall, and Lochside Apartment is at the top, in the centre gable, and in the third storey above the house.

Is there anything for kids to do in the area?2021-09-04T15:28:37+00:00

There is a Go Ape adventure centre just north of Aberfoyle, where there are also some nice woodland walks with info boards for kids. There’s also a water activity centre in Kinlochard. Loch Ard forest, just at the turnoff in Milton, has some great lakeside walks as well. And you can take a trip on the Loch Katrine steamer.

Do you accept dogs?2021-09-04T15:27:36+00:00

We do! But since we anticipate that our guests and their four-legged friends will be getting pretty muddy, and given that we also want to keep our rooms hair-free for other guests, we ask that you do not allow your dog on the carpeted areas. This means keeping your dog downstairs in the house, and upstairs in the apartment, and not in the bedrooms. Please also do not allow your dog to run around without a lead outside, as we have to be mindful of guests in the neighbouring properties. Thank you for your help with this!

Can we use the garden for barbecues etc.?2021-09-04T15:22:14+00:00

The lawn that you can see in some of the photos belongs to the neighbour, so that isn’t something we can offer our guests. But the stone-chipped area around the house belongs to us, and is available for you to park as well as sit outside. We have a fire pit and a chiminea for our guests, as well as a picnic bench. Please be aware of noise carrying, especially to the apartment and neighbouring cottage, and be considerate of other guests, especially those with children who may be in bed!

Testimonials

Fabulous place, amazing views and swimming in what felt like your own Loch was definitely a highlight. The house is remote so you need to have everything with you (midges obv bad ) but it’s one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever been to would recommend.

Lynne

Angela’s house was really clean and well presented. The views were beautiful, any window you looked out of had a great view! The kitchen had everything you need to rustle up some food salt/pepper/ oil etc which was great. The house was 3 floors of steps up which was a bit harder for my elderly mum and we didn’t realise there would have been neighbours out having BBQS etc. It is really remote and is perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of town! The Pier Cafe was lovely. Would recommend this apartment and Angela was great at answering all questions.

Sarah

Beautiful location, incredible views over the Loch from the apartment windows. Plenty to do and lots to explore nearby. The apartment is lovely, well equipped and very clean. Angela was really quick to respond to any queries both before and during our stay.

Sioban

This is our second time back at this Location in Angela’s property and once again we loved it. Such breathtaking views. You can see the water through each window in the house. So peaceful and quiet. The Cafe on the water is a stone throw away and just a beautiful place to have scones and tea or a lovely brunch or lunch! Angela is an extremely lovely host. Would highly recommend this gorgeous gem of a place.

Shelley

The location is idyllic, the Pier cafe is only a very short walk and the food and hospitality are phenomenal. You cannot fault where this is situated to explore the beautiful surroundings. Make sure you take Insect repellant if staying in the summer months to avoid being bitten. The midges also like staying locally clearly! The apartment itself is clean, well equipped and offers great views.

Emma

Great functional apartment in a beautiful location. Hosts sent clear instructions on the check in process and overall it was great value for money and a lovely place to spent new year’s. Well equipped kitchen but no basics like cooking oil or salt and pepper so just something worth remembering to take when packing.
