Our Loch Lomond self catering Airbnbs are located in a stunning, tranquil setting right on the edge of Loch Katrine. This is walking, running, birdwatching country for outdoor-loving folk. Lochside House and Apartment are two self-contained self-catering properties near Stirling forming the major part of an impressive Victorian mansion, built in 1900. The house has been modernised and has grand, high ceilings, but is cosy and warm all year round, with central heating and a wood-burning stove when needed. Lochside House sleeps 10 people, while Lochside Apartment sleeps six, and the two can been booked together if desired. There is an interconnecting door between the two, which is left unlocked for joint bookings. Perfect for family/friend gatherings, yoga retreats, or just to get away from it all!
Attractions near Loch Lomond self-catering
There is much to enjoy on the relative doorstep of Lochside House and Apartment. There are walks from the house on either side of the Loch or along the Old Military Road to Inversnaid. This takes you to the banks of Loch Lomond and the West Highland Way. For the energetic, you can walk or cycle around Loch Katrine on the The Great Trossachs Path and Katrine North Shore Route. This is an undulating 13 miles scenic trek to the Trossachs Pier, where there is a cafe and bikes for hire. A more leisurely option is to take the Lady of the Lake ferry from Stronachlachar Pier to the Trossachs Pier.
Loch Ard Forest is about 10 miles from the house on the way to Aberfoyle. This is considered to be one of the most picturesque lochs in Scotland. This vast forest covers 37 square miles there are a number of trails to suit all tastes for cycling and walking.
Just outside Aberfoyle is the Lodge Forest Visitor Centre, with a cafe, car parking and toilets. The varied trails include panoramic views, a waterfall, and a gentle stroll to more strenuous walks.You can also enjoy the Three Lochs Forest Drive or discover the ancient oakwoods at East Loch Lomond.
Experienced walkers can aim for the spectacular summits of Ben A’an, Ben Venue, Ben Ledi and Ben Lomond.
